Cisco Unveils Major Security Updates at Cisco Live Conference
Cisco made a big splash at its Cisco Live conference this week by unveiling a series of security updates aimed at enhancing its offerings in the AI and security space. The updates include integrating its Splunk acquisition with Cisco security, introducing a new firewall series, and launching new AI-native management for its Cisco Security Cloud.
During the conference, Jeetu Patel, Cisco’s executive vice president and general manager for security and collaboration, emphasized the importance of addressing security as a data problem, especially with the increasing use of AI in businesses. He highlighted the need to prevent lateral movement by attackers within a network and expedite the patching of vulnerabilities to prevent exploits.
One of the key announcements was the integration of Splunk into Cisco Security, following Cisco’s acquisition of the security and observability company earlier this year. This integration aims to leverage Cisco’s security telemetry to help businesses build better security operations centers (SOCs) with AI at the core. The platform will offer a range of solutions for organizations of varying levels of sophistication, from those without a SOC to those with advanced capabilities.
Additionally, Cisco unveiled updates to its Cisco Hypershield technology, which now supports AMD Pensando DPUs and will soon support Intel infrastructure processing units. The company also introduced the new Cisco Firewall 1200 Series, which promises three times the performance of comparable firewalls and eliminates the need for multiple appliances at enterprise branch locations.
Furthermore, Cisco announced the release of software 7.6 version of Firewall Threat Defense (FTD), which uses AI to prevent zero-day threats and extends application control to over 70 GenAI apps. The company also introduced Cisco Security Cloud Control, a unified management platform for its security cloud offerings, which will provide actionable insights and automate resolution across hybrid environments.
Overall, Cisco’s latest security updates demonstrate its commitment to leveraging AI and advanced technologies to enhance cybersecurity measures for businesses. The announcements made at the Cisco Live conference signal a significant step forward in the company’s efforts to provide comprehensive security solutions in today’s rapidly evolving threat landscape.
